The ìmost powerful figure in Britainís regional newspaper industryî will take part in a debate organised by the Journalism Leaders Programme.
Johnston Press Chief Executive Tim Bowdler, who was recently described by The Independent newspaper as the most powerful man in regional newspapers, will come to UCLan to take part in the next Journalism Leaders Forum on October 17th.

Join the discussion
The open event is part of the autumn residential week for the JLP participants and people are being invited to join in with the discussion both in person or online.
FranÁois Nel, the JLP Programme Director, said: ìThe next event focuses on leading innovation in a digital age. How often does anyone who is interested – journalists, students and others – get the chance to engage directly with the person recently dubbed ëthe most powerful figure in Britain’s £3bn regional newspaper industryí?
Under Bowdlerís leadership, Johnston Press has shown significant commitment to digital innovation.
This summer the company announced that they will convert 70 traditional newsrooms into digital and multimedia setups after a successful pilot at the Lancashire Evening Post in Preston. UCLanís journalism department is a key partner in many of these activities.
Department head Mike Ward coordinated the team who advised on Johnston’s strategy and helped train LEP journalists in the use of digital technologies.
The forum debate will be held at 6pm on Tuesday 17th October in UCLanís Greenbank building. If you plan to attend the free event in person, RSVP to Journalism Leaders.
