Public Relations placement year option
The Division of Applied Communication at UCLan has responded to student feedback and now offers students an optional 48-week industry placement.
Previously the placement year had been a compulsory element of the award-winning public relations single honours course. The academic team recognise that the placement year is not always possible or indeed necessary for those students who already have significant, relevant work experience.
Competitive environment
Alison Lucas, Course Leader said: “In an increasingly competitive environment it is clear that public relations experience is essential for students seeking an eventual career in the industry.î
She added: ìWe recognise however that some students gain this experience either before they join us or by working part-time throughout their period of study. We continue to fully endorse the benefits of the 48 week placement however for those students who are able to commit to it.”
