Next Journalism Leaders Forum announced
ìEditors as Entrepreneursî is the theme for the next Journalism Leaders Forum that will be chaired by Bob Eggington who established BBC news online.
His fellow panellists are the co-founder and director of Dublin-based Random Thoughts Media, Eamonn Carey and the co-ordinator of the BBC Blogs Network, Robin Hamman.
The most recent addition to the discussion line up is Nick Jaspan who opened and closed the independent weekly newspaper the North West Enquirer as well as recently launching regional media news portal How Do.
New opportunities
Francois Nel, the Journalism Leaders Programme director, said: ìMainstream media managers are expected not only to be custodians of existing operations and to satisfy existing (often shrinking) audiences, but many are also expected to investigate new opportunities to reach new users using new formats on new platforms. Increasingly, editors are expected to be entrepreneurs.
ìItís that new challenge which will be the focus of the 6th Journalism Leaders Forum panel discussion.î
The event will be held in Greenbank Lecture Theatre in UCLanís Lancashire Business School at 6pm on Tuesday 15th May. It is open to journalists, academics and anyone else with an interest in journalism in the digital age.
