Graduate to work with Donny Osmond
A graduate has landed a job with the BBC working on a new game show with seventies teenage pop idol Donny Osmond.
Ciara Emmott is a runner on a game show called Identity hosted by Donny that will air in September on the BBC 2 daytime schedule.
She is contracted until August and has been auditioning contestants, helping with the showís schedule and making sure the show has all of the relevant information from contributors.
She said: ìI started working on the show initially on a four week placement after I finished at UCLan. I was given lots of responsibility and threw myself into tasks and at the end of the placement they decided to keep me on a paid contract.î
The game show is centred around one contestant trying to win a cash prize by guessing the identities of 12 strangers. The concept of the game is to judge someone on the way they look, stand and present themselves and it has already been a hit in the US.
Donny Mania
Ciara said she has yet to meet the famous Donny Osmond. ìWe won’t meet him until we go into the studio to film which begins soon. I have, however, been inundated with calls from Donny fans wanting audience tickets so I now understand a bit more about ‘Donny Mania!”
Ciara specialised in television journalism in the final year of her degree and says it was then she found her niche.
ìIt taught me some valuable production lessons. News days were the best part of the course when we spent the day finding, researching, filming and editing local stories and then went into the studio to produce a 10 minute news programme. I also got the chance to do some great work placements including Granada Reports and then working down in London at GMTV’s Entertainment Today .î
Ciara isnít planning to far ahead with her career plans and says she will see what opportunities come along after working on Identity. At the moment she is just enjoying her job on the show.
She added: ìThe best part is the people on the Identity production team. They are a real good, fun bunch to work with and combine working hard with having a laugh which makes harder days much more enjoyable. I’ve never been paid to do a job that I actually love getting out of bed for before but this is definitely one of those jobs! I can’t wait to go into the studio for the start of filming.î
