A Postgraduate student has beaten 150 entrants to win a competition with Sky Sports News.

Broadcast student David Eyres has been awarded a three month contract with Sky after winning the Sky Sports News Summer Placement competition and will work at the channelís headquarters in London.

He said: ìIt has been my dream since I was ten-years-old to be a sports commentator so to be offered such a good opportunity with Sky News so early in my career is ideal.î

David was initially shortlisted for the placement and went through a series of interviews and group tasks on a selection day at Sky.

ìI went with the attitude that the selection day itself was a worthwhile experience and anything else was a bonus. It was a massive shock when I was called in and offered the job as I never thought I would have the chance to work in television straight out of university.î

David says he is interested in minority sports and his goal is to be a TV Sports Reporter at the Olympics.

He commented: ìI hope that the experience I get now will eventually lead to me realising my ambition at the London Olympics in 2012.î

Whilst at Sky David will work on a variety of roles including reporting and shadowing the editors and producers.

He added: ìI know working at Sky will be a challenge and Iím looking forward to it. Hopefully the three months I spend there will lead onto further opportunities.î
