Third year newspaper journalism students have secured a guest columnist for their weekly paper.

Dave Seddon  filed his first column  for  the Preston Journal  this month.   

Dave  who is Preston North End reporter for the Lancashire Evening Post  is also an alumnus of UCLan.

“It’s great to be writing for the Journal. I’m a former student here and I did my journalism training when it was Preston Polytechnic. It’s good to give a little bit back,” he said. 

Journal sports editor Jamie Bullen said: “I’m delighted to have Dave on board as no one has greater authority to comment on North End than him.

“He has shown a fantastic commitment to us by helping in this way and we really appreciate his contribution.”     

Seddon’s second column will focus on Preston’s derby day clash with Blackpool.

 Delwyn Swingewood,  third year newspaper tutor, said: “This is a wonderful coup for The Journal.  The students have shown great initiative to get someone like Dave on board.”
