Gill in line for Scottish Press Award


Former journalism student Alasdair Gill has been shortlisted for a top newspaper award.

Alasdair is one of five contenders in the Scottish Press Awards young journalist of the year category for his work on the Dundee Evening Telegraph.

“It’s fantastic to be shortlisted. I’ve been given some fantastic stories to cover in the last year and it’s terrific to see that picked up on at a national level,” said Alasdair who graduated from UCLan three years ago with an Upper Second.

Alasdair has enjoyed some more good fortune since being shortlisted for the award which is for journalist’s under 25; he’s been promoted to assistant news editor at the DC Thomson title.

“It’s great to see Alasdair is carving out a successful career in journalism like so many of our graduates. We’ve all got our fingers crossed for him,” said former tutor Delwyn Swingewood.

The 34th Scottish Press Awards are on 18 April in Glasgow
