UCLan students interview Xie Liang, one of China’s top football commentators

British and Chinese journalism students linked up to interview top Chinese football commentator Xie Liang at his headquarters, Radio Guangdong.

Xie Liang is the main voice of football to millions of Chinese football fans. He has also covered three Olympic Games.

Year Three Sports Journalism students from UCLan’s main campus in Preston Alex Urquhart-Cannon and Liz Owen interviewed Xie Liang together with Chinese students Cloud and Nolan from the university’s International Journalism course based in Guangzhou.

Alex and Liz are among 11 British and Irish students from the School of Journalism and Digital Communication who are currently taking part in a sports journalism project in the Chinese city. While they visited the radio station other students were interviewing participants in the Women’s Rugby Union World Sevens and two more worked on a report on public participation in Tai Chi.

You can read more about the interview and see what else the students have been doing in the China sport section of the Preston Hotpot.
