Journalism students pitch to industry experts
The MyCareer. Your Career event has been organised as part of our 50 years of teaching journalism celebrations.
Guests at the event include Tessa Chapman, Chief Correspondent at Channel 5, (who will be showing footage of her work on the Syrian border and covering the Brevik case), Sky Executive Producer Neil Dunwoodie, who is in charge of placements and careers, Jonathan Blake and Anthony Baxter from Radio 1 Newsbeat, Eamonn O’Neal from the MEN and Dom Smith from the magazine world.
Debbie Robinson, BA journalism course leader said “You don’t often get the chance to meet so many people from industry in one place and I think students are going to learn a lot about what will make them attractive to employers.”
A unique part of the event will be the chance for students to pitch their ideas to a panel of experts with a chance to win a day shadowing one of them for a day.
“Demand has been really high,” said Debbie “I think students realise what a great opportunity this is and are ready to show industry just how good they are”
The event takes place on Tuesday 23rd April and is open to Journalism students only.
