The students really enjoyed themselves producing their consumer magazines this year, targeting younger audiences with the trashy-but-irresistible Guilty Pleasures, strap line “No Shame” and the cutting-edge arts brand Atmosphere.
Guilty Pleasures editor David Humphreys chose to give his team the freedom to choose their own subjects, pruning with a light hand where necessary and organically producing a very strong brand. Web editor Sarah Watson went to town, producing their own shop and a real buzz on twitter.
Over at Atmosphere, editor Sam Edwards followed in the great journalistic tradition of being willing to look stupid in public, being filmed having a go at being a street statue and spoken word poetry. The team produced an edgy brand exploring the under-the-radar arts scene.
Both teams got first class marks and were congratulated by external examiners.
