Michael JA Moran

I’m a MA Magazine Journalism student at the University of Central Lancashire. I live in Preston, having moved from Ireland to complete my undergraduate degree in computer programming at UCLan in 2006. I graduated in 2009 and was awarded a 2:1, receiving a BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development. The course covered the breadth of computer programming, including object oriented methods using C++, C# and Java, software development methods and practices, AI, Game Logic and Graphics programming with DirectX.

I love writing, especially writing about and covering media such as films, tv shows and video games, as they are exciting and fast moving industries. I love magazines in particular, due to marriage of quality editorial and eye catching design: they offer something more substantial and worthwhile than other publications.

The course I am currently studying is a fantastic way to learn new skills – such as shorthand and reporting –  as well as a way of honing my writing and train me as a journalist.

Besides writing, my interests also include programming, computer graphic design, football, video games, books and film.
